Abstract Decontamination of oil spills with microbial lipases was found a promising solution. Port Said governorate is subjected to frequent spills. The significant lipase producers were Aeromonas caviae EGHK-17 and Serratia marcescens EGHK-19. The maximal lipase activity was after 24 hours at 30°C, pH 7, with 150 rpm, 2% inoculum percentage with 1% diesel and 0.3% tryptone in the presence of divalent ions and Triton X-100. Purification using DEAE-Sephadex exhibited lower final recovery and fold purification. Biochemical characteristics of studied purified lipases suggest its potential candidate for various lipolysis applications. This study confirmed the role of purified lipase in diesel degradation. |
