المستخلص The study aims to identify the reality of economic cooperation between Egypt and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries,while finding out the challenges facing the development of cooperation in those areas and developing a vision for developing it. Therefore, the problem of the study is to find means to enhance economic cooperation between Egypt and (GCC) countries in a way that lives up to the Egyptian ambition regarding the size of the historical relations between them.The results of the study show that the percentage of Egyptian commodity exports to the (GCC) countries reached an average of 11% of the total Egyptian exports (2000-2020), while the share of Egyptian commodity imports from the (GCC) countries reached an average of 10.3% of the total Egyptian imports during the same period, the contribution of (GCC) investment amounted to an average of 24.2% of the total investment flows to Egypt (2002-2020). The study also show that there are a number of obstacles that limit effectiveness of cooperation such as: challenges related to the Egyptian production structure, and the challenges facing transportation and logistics services, the multiplicity of procedures and legislation related to the investment, weakness of transparency related to the investment opportunities and weakness of promotion of tourism activities and places.The study proposed a strategy to enhance economic cooperation between Egypt and the GCC countries, by increasing the productive capacities of the Egyptian economy through integration into global value chains, attention to maritime transport and related logistics services, studying the tastes and needs of Gulf markets, political and institutional reform that contributes to improving the investment climate.The study recommended activating bilateral, multilateral agreements, and signing new agreements between Egypt and the (GCC), Emphasize the importance of joint ventures consistent with available resources. encouraging investment in the tourism sector, facilitationg the entry of Gulf tourists to Egypt, paying attention to training the Egyptian workers and raising their efficiency in the line with the requirements of the Gulf labor market. |
