Potatoes are among the most important Egyptian vegetable crops in addition to their export importance, as they represent an advanced position among vegetable crops in terms of the cultivated area and the quantity of production. The old and new lands, as their area in the old lands is about 293.75 thousand feddans, and their area in the new lands is about 128.87 thousand feddans, equivalent to about 69.51% and 30.49% of the total area planted with the potato crop in the old and new lands, respectively, as well as if the area of potatoes is compared with the area Other vegetables, as they represent the area of potatoes in the old and new lands In 2018/2019, about 293.75, 128.87 thousand feddans, respectively, equivalent to about 26.64%, 16.84% of the total area of other vegetables, amounting to about 1102.785, 765.9 thousand feddans, in each of the old and new lands, respectively, and the value of Egyptian potato exports amounted to about 266.15 million dollars, It represents about 7.69% of the total value of Egyptian agricultural exports, which amount to about 3461.01 million dollars, in 2019.The problem of the study is that despite the efforts made by the concerned agencies represented in the brown rot project and the increase of new areas free of this disease, there are still many farmers in traditional areas who grow the potato crop without adhering to the procedures set by the Ministry of Agriculture, which caused it The closure of these areas to export to the European Union, which caused the sale of the crop locally only, so the problem of the study lies in answering the following question: What is the economic, social and environmental impact of combating brown rot in potatoes in Beheira Governorate as a model for the Arab Republic of Egypt.
