Abstract

Two experiments were conducted in the present study at the Poultry Research and Production Unit, Environmental Studies andResearch Institute (ESRI), Minufiya University, El Sadat Branch, Minufiya province, Egypt during the period from 12/7 to 22/8/2009to investigate the effect of substituted dietary yellow corn bysorghum grains with or without enzyme and Sequential FeedingProgram on broiler chicks performance under desert environmental conditions. Chemical analysis was conducted at Animal and Poultry Nutrition Laboratories, Desert Research Center, Ministry of Agriculture.
A total number of 315 unsexed one day old chicks ROSS 308 selected randomly from flock were used in both experiments 1 and 2. Chicks have been fed for four days after this chicks were randomly distributed at into seven (7) treatments (four experimental diets ( 3 + control) were formulated to state the effect of substituted 50 % of dietary YC by sorghum grains with or without Sequential Feeding Program on broiler chickens performance under desert conditions.(Exp.1)Sequential feeding system were designed for experimental chicks fed on a whole dietary sorghum grains ad litbtium for 24 hours and fed on other components of the diet for next 24 hours. The second experiment (five experimental diets)(4+control) were formulated to study the effect of substituted 50% or 100% of dietary YC by sorghum grains with or without Zylam (100mg/kg diet) supplementation on broiler chickens performance under desert environmental conditions.(Exp.2) Feed was offered ad libitum system according to the breeder program.85 Water provided at all time. All chicks were kept under the same managerial hygienic and environmental conditions throughout the entire.+ The experimental diets were formulated according to (NRC, 1994), and to be isonitrogenous and iso-caloric, containing about 22, 19% CP and 3000, 3200Kcal ME / Kg during starter and finisher periods. The following criteria were measured and / or calculated: Live body weight (LBW), live body weight gain (LBWG), feed intake (FI), feed conversion Ratio (FCR), performance index (PI), Mortality rate. Blood Plasma constituents Slaughter parameters and Economical efficiency. The results obtained could be summarized as follow Experiment 1. Effect of substituting 50 % of dietary YC by sorghum grains with or without Sequential Feeding Program on broiler chicks performance underdesert environmental conditions:1.LBW Results showed that sequential feed program 24 hours grains (Sorghum or corn grains) and 24 hours other diet components significantly (p0.05) decreased (LBW) compared to control diet (1596.11 and 1626.229 vs. 1687.89 respectively 2.LBWG:Results indicated that T2 group (SS) was significantly (p<0.05) the best gain during weeks2, 3 and 4 compared with control and other experimental groups (396.87g vs. 381.93 and 359.76), respectively. Meanwhile SFP groups produced final gain significantly (p<0.05) more than group fed diet containing 50% ground sorghum (T4) without SFP.
