Abstract video compression plays an important role in transmission and Storage of digital video data. There are two kinds of redundancies in a video sequence, namely spatial and temporal. The main idea for achieving compression is to remove the temporal and spatial redundancies existing in video sequence. Motion-compensated predictive coding is an effective method that is commonly used in reducing the temporal redundancy and it achieves one of the most important compression factors for a video coder. Vector quantization (VQ) is an efficient technique for exploiting spatial correlation. Temporal redundancies are usually removed by using motion estimation/compensation techniques. Both VQ and motion estimation algorithms are essentially template matching operations. Motion estimation is the key issue in video compression. Several methods for motion estimation based on the center biased strategy and minimum mean square error trend searching have b |
