Abstract
Fatal and non-fatal pulmonary embolism is a great problem that may
occur before, during and after knee surgery especially during tourniquet
application. The physiology of coagulation, etiology of pulmonary
embolism and its diagnosis should be well understood to start with, then
finally the prophylaxis and management.
