Abstract

The Om-C filters are one from the two main techniques (Om-C and
witched-Capacitor) used for realizing integrated analog filters. The Orn-
C technique has the advantages of processing higher frequency signals
range.
In this thesis an electronic tunable IF bandpass Orn-C filter for FM
receiver has been designed. The center frequency is chosen equal to
10.7MHz and the bandwidth equal to 200KHz. The design started by
evaluating several passive architectures to choose the most suitable
architecture for on chip implementation. The filter is synthesized to yield
active filter with all its transconductors have the same circuit architecture,
aspect ratio of the transistors, biasing conditions and control voltage in
order to prevent problems due to transconductance mismatch and
facilitate the filter tuning. The implemented filter is of the 2nd order that
has 10 dB stopband attenuation and is covering many interesting
telecommunication applications.
The designed filter functionality and specifications have been verified
with pre-layout simulation and post-layout simulation.
A second design for the filter has been proposed in order to achieve
higher stopband attenuation.
