Abstract The present study was done to detect the correlation kween blood lead level and hearing impairment, 45 subjects re chosen from printing department of El Menoufia Iversity, they all .were males with their age ranging from-50 (mean 35.38 years). They all were subjected to thorough Btory taking and otological examination to exclude other ises of hearing impairment. The effects of noise was fluded from the printing department by its measurement, it within normal level. All these subjects were subjected to following Determination of blood lead level Audiological evaluation by doing pure tone audiogram in both ears, tympanometry. At the same time 45 subjects were• chosen from rural areas with no history of exposure to lead industry. They were subjected to the same clinical audiological and laboratory evaluation as the exposed group. We found that there was astatistically significant correlation between blood lead level and elevated hearing cesholds in both ears. Also blood lead level was higher exposed subjects than control ones. At the same time ring threshold in exposed group was slightly higher. |
