Abstract 1) Ocular trauma is one of the most common causes of unilateral blindness, It has different incidence and causative agents in the different localities. 2) 2) The aim of this work is to evaluate the prevalence of trauma in Assiut, and to know the commonest traumatic lesions and their complications, and the commonest affected ocular tissues. 3) The review of the literature showed the different types of ocular injuries, their incidence, complications, and management. 4) The material included 300 cases of ocular injuries examined in the ophthalmic outpatient clinic of Assiut University Hospital or referred from the Casualty Department of the hospital as emergency cases in a period of 8 months between April and December, 1979. General and ophthalmic examination was done and the collected data were recorded in a special sheet for every case. 5) The results were tabulated and some photos were included as examples to the examined cases. 6) The results were discussed, and the possible explanations for these results were put forward. |
