Abstract This case control study was carried out in Ain Shams University Maternity Hospital. A total of 100 pregnant women were included in this study, with singleton viable pregnancy with no medical disease during pregnancy between 28-36 weeks of gestation, divided into three groups: GroupI: This group included 40 pregnant women with history of leakage of vaginal fluid and positive for amniotic fluid pooling with or without Valsalva maneuver by using sterile Cusco speculum examination (confirmed PROM group). Group II: This group included 40 pregnant women with history of leakage of vaginal fluid but they were negative for amniotic fluid pooling by using sterile Cusco speculum examination (suspected PROM group). Group III: this group included 20 pregnant women with healthy uncomplicated pregnancy (control group). At admission, all women underwent sterile Cusco speculum examination and amniotic fluid pooling with or without Valsalva maneuver was noted. |
