Abstract

This experiment was carried out to evaluate different sources of concentrate ingredients (classified as protein, energy or protein + energy feeds) commonly offered to ruminal, in fattening animal rations.
The experiment was composed of two stages as follow: -
In the first stage, the samples were prepared by soaking corn grain and barley grain in urea solution. The solution was prepared in three concentrations, 10 % (100 g urea / liter water), 15 % (150 g urea / liter water) and 20 % (200 g urea / liter water). The durations of soaking in each concentration were 6, 9 and 12 hours. All samples were used in mash fresh form, the bags were incubated in triplet in the rumen two fistulated buffaloes fed clover hay for 0, 2, 4, 6, 12 and 24 h. Chemical analysis of these samples, moisture, crude protein, crude fiber, ether extract, nitrogen-free extract, organic matter and ash, were assayed. Rate of disappearance of dry matter and organic matter in rumen were determined by using In-Situ dacron polyester bag technique.
