Abstract Keloids usually form in predisposed individuals after skin trauma. They are considered to be a result of altered wound healing with excessive scar tissue formation, which extends deyond the area of the initial wound and does not regress spontaneously. Keloids develop in response to very diverse types of trauma to the skin, including surgery, injections,insect bites, burns, and any process resulting in skin inflammation. |
