Abstract Two field experiments were carried out under North Sinai conditions (El-Sheikh Zowayed) during the two successive seasons of 200112002 and 200212003. The objective of this work was to study the effect of applying biofertilizer and 1 or chemical fertilizers on the vegetative growth, chemical constituents and essential oil productivity of Salvia officinalis L. and Origanum syriacum L. var. aegyptiacum Tack. plants. Seeds of sage (Salvia officinalis L.) were sown in he nursery on November 15’ and the seedlings were transplanted on March 2 * for the first season and March 14’for the second season. Egyptian oregano (Criganum syriacum L. var. aegyptiacum Tack.) was propagated by using divisions which were planted at the same times. Planting was done in rows 75 cm apart and the distance between plants was 35 cm (one plantlhill). |
