Abstract
Since world war 11. the use of insecticides has grown
tremendously. Exposure (0 these chemicals may happen during
their production. use. transport and storage. Also hazards of
insecticides are not limited to occup.auQnal incidents bm. also 10
low levels of these chemicals in food and environment (Murphy,
1986) .
About 30,000 metric {Om of formulated pesticides (mainly
insecticides) are Unporred and used annually ..More than 70% of
these imports are used to protect Egypt’s main cash crop and
cotton from attacking insects such as leaf and bolloworms,
These insecticides are applied mainly by aerial spraying
(75%) • a method which is hazardous to population (EI- SeOOe
and Soliman, 1982).
The use of insecticides in eradicating different types of
insects has been increased toa great extent, The usc of these
chemicals in houses mo fields leads not only 1:0 environmental
pollution. which produces great health hazards both for humans
and animals but also to direct toxicity on users (Baker et, all97 8)
Accidersal poisoning by insecticides are common wmcb
