Summary
Family violence is a problem of many aspects social ,economic ,psychological , legal and medical .it present from many years in all countries , societies family violence occurs due to many causes and many problems occurs due to it as divorce and children street and others .it is wrong to think that Islam agree about violence against women or children the opposite is the correct .
This study is done to evaluate the problem of family violence violence partner and child abuse in greater Cairo which include Cairo ,Giza and Kaliopia governments in 6 years duration from 1998 to 2003 .the results was the following :-
Partner abuse cases were 177 case women were the great part of the victims (84.18%) and men victims were only (15.82%) , death was the fate of violence in ( 47.46%)of the cases , complete recovery occurs in (29.39%) of the cases and permanent infirmity occurs in (23.17%) of the cases .(46.90%) of the cases had injury all over the body and (43.50%) of the cases injured at head, chest and abdomen the least site of trauma were at limbs (9.60%) .
In most cases (69.49%) violence were repeated and in (30.51%) of the cases violence occurs once .great part of assault occurs inside home (90.39%) . motive for violence were family argument in (49.70%) of the cases and financial motive occurs in (25.40%) of the cases and immoral problems cause violence in (22.60%) of the cases the least cause of violence was psychological disturbance of the assault (2.30%) . major part of the trauma was of blunt type (40.99%) and the least one was crushing (0.45%) major part of the victims (74.02%) were at age less than 40 years and the least part (1.69%) was older than 60 years. Sharp objects were the most type of weapons to be used (28.43%) , hands and feet used in (27.48%) of the cases and car used in (0.47%) of the cases .
Child abuse cases were 82 cases most of the victims were female (56.10%) and the relation between victim and assailant was his daughter in (41.46%) of the cases , trauma occurs allover the body in (48.78%) of the cases , discipline was the great motive for violence (70.73%) and there are repeated assault in (70.73) and assault occurs once in (29.27%) of the cases , assault occurs inside home in ( 96.34%) of the cases and out side home in (3.66%) of the cases , death was the fate of violence in (74.139%) of the cases and permanent infirmity occurs in (8.54%)of the

cases , hands and feet were the most weapon to be used in (29.00%) of the cases and the least weapon used was the car in (1.00%) of the cases , major part of trauma was of blunt type (34.95%) and the least one was crushing (0.97%) , major part of the assailants were male (76.82%) and major part of the victims(40.24%) were less than 6 years .
Domistic violence is not a new phenomenon. Yet, the development of our awareness and understanding of it , including its incidence and indicators of violence, as well as its impact on victims, is relatively new and growing.
We recommend that future investigations should target a variety of adolescents and women including those of different ages, gender, and residense,experimental research designs, including the use of random sampling, case-control, and longitudinal designs should also be utilized, especially when evaluating outcome-based data,great effort should be given to raise the culture of the society to prevent early marriage,media should explain the problem and its different aspects to people to make them understand and so reduce abuse,police office should be aware about some aspects of abuse how to report, legal steps to arrest an assailant,there is no enough statistics about abuse so more studies should be achieved to cover all aspects of the problem .
