Abstract The general objective of this study was to formulat pelleted fish feeds using non-conventional feed ingredients and evaluate their effect as a source of carbohydrates on the reared fishes. Based primarily on the proximate analysis of the feed ingredients, the unconventional feed ingredients were classified into three groups. The first group includes the ingredients containing crude protein ranging from 13.51 to 21.10%. These use leaves Olive waste, Eggplant leaves, Acacia and Pepper leaves. The second group include ingredients having crude protein ranging from 11.89 to 12.26. These include Aader, halums of Tomato, Cantaloupe and Squash and Ghasool. Group three, containing less than 11% crude protein, tended to be high in crude liber ranging from 8.26 to 26.65%. A total of 1 8 experimental diets were formulated and tested in an attempt to find out the most efficient and economical diets. The study was carried out at the Department of Fsheries Resources and Aquaculture, Faculty of Environmental Agricultural Sciences, EE-Arish. Hybrid Tilapia (Oreochrotnis niloticus X Ot’eochroinis unreiis) was used. It was selected due to : a) Filler feeding behavior; b) Capability to convert efficiency low quality, inexpensive materials into high quality proteins and c) Tolerance to poor water quality condition . The points studied on the experimental fish included, body size, body weight gain, condition factors, specific growth rate, feed and nutrients consumption, feed conversion, productivity, digestibility, protein efficiency ratio (PER), protein productive value (PPV%), apparent bilogical value (ABV), energy productive value (EPV%) and flesh chemical composition. Water and ambient temperature were recorded. Data were subjected to statistical analysis . |
