Abstract The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of treadmill exercise on nitric oxide (NO) in diabetic patients (type 2). Thirty patients participated in the study, their age ranges from 40 to 55 years. They were divided into two equal groups. The first group(studied) , performed a supervised treadmill exercise program(3 sessions/week, 30 minutes/per session for 8 weeks) in addition to oral hypoglycemic drugs . The second group (control) received only the oral hypoglycemic drugs. Nitric oxide was measured at the beginning and after 8 weeks for both groups. There was a significant increase in the NO level only after the treadmill exercise group. So it is recommended that type 2 diabetic patients participate treadmill exercise to increase the NO level and improve vascular endothelial function |
