Abstract The amphibolites are the oldest rock type. petrographic studies enabled the classification of the amphibolites into: pyroxene hornblende amphibolite, biotite hornblende amphibolite and hornblende amphibolite. geochemically, they are ortho-amphibolite, have sub-alkaline tholeiitic nature and developed in continental environments. Marble with calc silicate rocks are closely associated with BIF. petrographically they are classified into four types, namely, banded marble, spinel marble, forsterite marble and serpentine marble. Banded iron formation crops out in the south and southwestern part of the map area. the banded iron formation consists of iron-rich bands and silica-rich bands. REE contents are charactized by Negative Eu, which is similar to most of the Egyptioan and world lake superior BIF concentrations. |
