Abstract The radiant energy of the sun as it passes the atmosphere undergoes complicated transformations. Absorption and scattering of radiant energy take place. Because of the scattering of radiant energy, we observe at the surface level not only the direct solar radiation in the form parallel beams of the sun S rays, but also diffuse radiation. Falling form every point of the sky. Direct solar radiation and diffuse radiation comprise global radiation. Vertical component of direct solar radiation is the solar radiation coming from the solid angle of the sun S disc, as received on a horizontal surface. Sky (Diffuse) radiation is the downward diffuse solar radiation as received on a horizontal surface from a solid angle of (2π) with the exception of the solid angle subtended by the sun s disc. Global solar radiation is the downward direct and diffuse solar radiation as received on a horizontal surface. |
