Abstract In this thesis tewenty cases of recurrent iriguinal hernia were studied regarding the possible causes of recurrence, suitable methods of treatment and more important the possible factors which avoided reduce the incidence of recurrence. Also the pathological changes in recurrent inguinal hernia. It was found that prevention of recurrence easier than its treatment. For this the first step is removal of the cause of the original hernia, followed by proper correction of the defect, then lastly the method of repair. This method of repair must be judged according to each case separatly which the anatomy and physiology of the region must not be interferred with. When recurrene occurs the treatment is some what difficult, due to distora— tion of the anatomy of the region. Reaching the normal anatomical planes is essentials for proper correction. In some of these cases repair was done by the local tissues. |
