Abstract
1. 164 int’.nts ged i—s ror]ths of whom DC were breast fed, 50 were arti1ici’ily fed ariu 5.+ vwere mixed fed,
were subjected to study the effect of type of feeding on growth aruniters, RL and frequency of infectious diseases
2. Although the weight of artificially fed infants wa higher than mixed fed infants and both were higher than bresst fed infants but this does not indicate a highervalue of artificial milks but only increased carbohydrate—fat content.
Breast milk proved to be of higher value as evidenced by the increase in length and both urpcr and lower sigment lengths irrespect ive of body weight.
3. There was no evident correlation between the type of feeding and head circumference, chest circumference and mid upper arm circumference.
