Abstract

The present study was designed to evaluate the neuroendocrinemrofile in camels Camelus dromedaries infected by third instar larvae of the camel nasal bot fly. Cephalopina titillator. Also, the effects of twoinsect growth regulators (IGRs), pyriproxyfen and chlorfluazuron onsome biochemical and histological values of third instar larvae ofCtitillator were studied..
Third instar larvae of the studied insect caused fluctuations innorepinephrine, dopamine and serotonin contents by elevation anddecline in serum and different studied brain regioncamel. However, hypothyroidism was recorded in infected camels whereas, the levels ofserum triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4) was decreased. Also.infection of camels by third larval instar of C. titillator caused declines inserum thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH).
The neuroendocrine changes may be involved In the behavioralsymptoms that frequently accompany the infection with larvae ofC. titillator In camels.
Treatment of third instar larvae of C. tItillator by two IGRs causeddecreases in the level of total protein in haemolymph and midgut.However. the treatment with LCso of pyriproxyfen and chlorfluazuronproduced qualitative and quantitative changes in the permanent fractionsof the protein patterns in heamolymph and midgut. However, theintensities of ribonucleic acid (RNA) in haemolymph and midgut were
Decreased by both IGRs treatment. The histological effects of LCs0 of pyriproxyfen and chlorfluazuronin the midgut of third instar larvae indicated that the anterior andposterior parts were highly affected after 24 and 48 hrs of treatment.treatedHowever, the chlorfluazuron had minimal effects onlarvae In comparing to pyriproxyfen.
More effective in the data suggested that pyriproxyfen Iscontrolling C titillator and also the two studied IGRs, pyriproxyfen and achlorfluazuron recommended to be used for the control of insect afterstudy their toxicity on the insect host (camel).
