Abstract As a matter of fact, the transition metal complexes of Schiff bases has applications as catalyses in various chemical and photochemical reactions as well as in biological systems. The applications of such metal chelates to any one system depends to a large extent on its molecular structure. Thus it is of large importance to get a deep idea about the structure of formed complex. The present work comprises a systematic investigation of the complexes formed by the reaction of transition metal ions with heterocyclic Schiff’s base. A clear understanding of the behaviour of the organic ligands can be gained if the spectral characteristics of the compounds are known. For this purpose , an investigation of the spectral behaviour of the compounds to be used as ligands in the present work should preceed the study of their metal chelates. The organic compounds included in the present work are investigated by various spectroscopic methods whether in organic solvents ( electronic absorption ) or in the solid state (ir spectra). The chelating properties of these Schiff bases are pointed out by studying their complexes by element analysis , electronic absorption spectra |
