Abstract The present thesis comprises f i v e chapters, the contents are subdivided into introduction, experimental and r e s u l t s and discussion. In chapter I, a l i t e r a t u r e survey is given on the spectrophotometric studies of hydrasine derivatives of organic acids and a general survey on the coordination chemistry of hydrazide complexes with t r a n s i t i o n metal ions baaed on special reference to chelating properties of such liganda. In chapter 11, the experimental d e t a i l s f o r the preparation of the solid compounda, solutions, purification of solvents are given. The apparatus used and working procedure are as well described. Chapter I11 contains the results of the study on the organic ligand together with its discussion, it is subdivided into five parts. In part I, the aolvent effect on the uv-absorption spectra of nicotinic and isonicotinic hydrazides and some of t h e i r arylidene derivatives are considered i n order to account for the nature of absorption bands i n r e l a t i o n to t h e s t r u c t u r e of the solute. |
