Abstract Ion-exchange resins are used as catalysts for many chemical reactions, e .go, .:a$er hydrolysis* In the present work we are concerned with %he acid-hydrolysis of esters* For this reason ths strong acidic cation exchange resin Wofatit KPS (2,12 and 16% DVB) was used. X t s average lent amount the purpose homogeneous particle diameter was 0.06 me An equivaof HCl (0,09 N) solution was abso used f o r ”I of comparison between the heterogeneous and catalyzed hydrolysis of the esters. The kinetic experiments were carried outi in aqueous solution w i t h the acid of the batch-process at 42,W ,55 and 59’~. It was found that the hydrolysis of ethyl acetate obeyed the first-order kinetics, whereas, the hydrolysis of n-propyl acetate, n-butyl acetate and iso-buty2 acetate obeyed khe zero-order kinetics in both homogeneous and he-tesogeneous systems. ’Pie hydrolysis of polyvinyl acetate did not take place because its molecule was completely excluded by the sieve acti. |
