In this work no strong association between schistosomiasis and active CMV infection was detected, which is in contrast to the results of other researchers. The endoscopic picture of active CMV patients showed a non-specific picture for the disease, while the histopathological examination revealed a diagnostic Owel’s eye appearance in the mucosa of the CMV infected case. chronic gastritis was the main histopathological finding in the mucosa of the patients and control subjects. |
