Abstract In the course of t h i s study, the physiological special izat ion of TI-.-._ illetia foet ida (Wallr.) Liro and Urocystis -=- agropx-ri (Preusus) Schro t ., was studied. Regardless the methods of isolation, the obtained sporidia were subjected to three kinds of studies i.e., cultural, cornp a t i b i l i t y , and pathogenicity studies. Cultural studies were carried out using five different media for both isolates of the two species, Five isolates of Tilletia foetida and four isolates of Urocystis agropyri were inves t igated. I- Cutlural studies revealed the following points : 1) A l l the isolates and their successive transfers were stable on the different tested a r t i f i c i a l media. 2) On the same medium differences were observed in the growth characters for every isolate; These characters fncsluded colony diameter a f t e r two weeks from inoculation, color, consistency, topography, exudates ,margin, and the color of medium. 3) With few exceptions, Sartoris and Potato 4 per cent sucrose agar were considered the best media for the isolates of both species. |
