Abstract a cornpiementsry part of a research started in 1971 at the Nuclexc Laboratory of Alexandria Univexsity; the utilisation of fast neutrons from a sealed neutxon generator tube for activation purpoees, vhfch b.as many useful technical applications. The exact knowledge of the spectrum of the emitted neutrons is of a primary i n t e r e s t in thie research work of n e u t r o n f i e l d . The determination of the neutron spectrum has been carried out i n this thesis using nwlear photographic emulsion plates es neutron detectors. Alongside, the mesaar ements enabled us to study the n-p e l a s t i c scattering in the region 4-6 MeV, 15 as well the angular distributionoTprotons for the 160(n,po) N reaction i n the neutron energy region of 12-15 MeV. In order to f u l f i l l t h i s aim, four plates of Ilford photographic emulsion were irradiated using the tube of Philips type, present i n the Physics Depcu tment, Faculty of Science, Alexandria University. The t o t a l yield of that t u b e at 100 Kev i s about 3 x 108 feat neut rons pe r second. |
