Abstract This work was carried out t o investigate the effect of sampling the Bnerican Early raaize variety on mean perf omanc es , environmental error variances, genetic variance components and their precision. Design I mating scheme as suggested by Comstock and Robinson (1948) was adopted, Thirty half-sib families were made and the progeny resulting frora crossing each made plant t o eight consecutive fenale plants represented 240 full-sib faailies, The 30 nale groups were divided at random into five sets each contained six half-sib or 4-8 full-sib families, Fron each full-sib family (a single ear), two experiments differing in planting rates (15.000 and 30.000 plants/faddan) were planted. Data were taken on ear height, yield of ears, ear length, ear dianeter, ear-row number and nunber of kernels per row. Data reduced to a per plant basis. Analyses of variance were conputed for each set separately and then pooled f o r all sets and for each density. Combined analyses of the two densities were also made. |
