Abstract

In this study, the effect of 2,4-D alone or combined with Gibberellic acid on june, perhavest DROP in lime fruits, yield, fruit quality at harvest, and fruit behaviour in field storage was investigated during the two successive seasons of 1979/1980 and 1980/1981.The data obtained have revealed the following points :
Part 1: June and preharvest DROP :
1. The 2.4-D compound either alone at rates of 5, 10, 20, 40 ppm or combined with GA3 at 50 ppm significantly reduced fruit June DROP when the tress sprayed around the first of May.
2.The most significant reduction in june DROP was obtained when GA3 at 50 ppm was applied with 2.4-D at 20 or 40 ppm since these practices had nearly reduced June DROP by about 1005 compared with the check tress.
3. Concerning the effect on preharvest drop, the tress were sprayed anther time around Augnst first it was noticed that the date of preharvest DROP followed closely those of June drop.
Part II: Harvesting studies:-
a) yield, fruit weight and size and juice volume:-
1. Both 2.4-D alone at any rate (5, 10, 20, 40 ppm) or combined with GA3 at 50 ppm significantly increased the yield per tree.
