Abstract Optical interferometric and diffraction methods were applied to study the optical properties of synthetic P.V.A. and P.V.C. fibers. Three independent techniques were employed. These are, the Becke-line method, multiple-beam Fizeau method and a technique based on the analysis of the forward scattered laser light. First, the Becke-line method was used for the measurement of the refractive indices of the outer layer (skin) of the fiber. |
