Abstract

Biostratigraphic investigation of some subsurface Miocene sections from the Gulf of Suez, Nile Delta and the Western Desert areas led to the following : (1) The recognition of 252 foraminiferal species, subspecies and varieties; 97 of which are planktonic belonging to 19 genera, 3 families and one superfamily (Globigerinacea), plus155 benthonic species, subspecies and Varieties belong to 57 genera, 33 families and 11 superfamilies. These superfamilies are Astrorhizidea, Lituolacea, Cribrostomacea, Miliolacea, Nodosaracea, Buliminacea, Discorbacea, Rotaliacea, Orbitoidacea, Cassidulanacea and Robertinacea. The identified species, subspecies and varieties are photographed and given in17 enclosed plates.
