Abstract The present study was designed to assess the oral health status of the population in Damietta center. The study was designed according to pathfinder survey method (1997). Stratified cluster sample composed of 8000 subjects (males and females) was collected at the age of 5, 12, 15, 35-44 and 65-74 years with equal numbers of (1600) subjects for each age group. Regarding dental caries, the results of this study revealed high caries experience among 5 and 65-74 years old groups. Regarding the gingival and periodontal diseases, among 5 years old group the percentages of subjects with gingivitis was (16.6%) and (11.3% and 7.2%) among 15 and 35-44 years old group, while in elderly group the percentage of subjects affected with periodontitis was (100%). Regarding enamel fluorosis, the prevalence of fluorosis was (23.3%, 24.5% and 18.5%) among 12, 15 and 35-44 years old groups. Regarding developmental defects of enamel, the prevalence of DDE with all various forms were (11.2%, 6.4% and 3.8%) among 12, 15 and 35-44 years old groups respectively. The dento facial anomalies, the percentages of subjects with no crowding teeth were (73.4%, 81% and 62.1%) among 12, 15 and 35-44 years old groups respectively. Finally, the prevalence of prosthetic status and needs for partial or complete dentures were (10.6% and 6.6%) among 35-44 years old group and were (44.7% and 55.3%) among 65-77 years old group respectively. |
