Abstract

This work aims to study the use untraditional alternatives to control three of the most abundant stored grain pests, khapra beetle Trogoderma granarium (Everts.) (Coleoptera: Dermestidae), red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum (Herbst.) (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae) and lesser grain borer Rhizopertha dominica (Fabricius) (Coleoptera: Bostrichidae), as a safe methods to reduce their population without pollution. That occurred by two methods biological control studies. It was important to study some of the predator mite Acropsella notchi facts of behavior as mating and feeding to know if it may defined as useful agent of biological control. In this study, three plants are newly used as natural insecticides, by using their extracts by (Hexane, Acetone and Methanol), which are safer, cheaper and useful control agents. They are seeds of Eruca sativa Mill [Family: Brassicaceae (Cruciferae)], Commiphora molmol (Family: Burseraceae) and Phyllanthus emblica L. (Family: Euphorbiaceae). The residual effect of the tested plant hexane extracts was experimented to evaluate their efficiency during storage.
