Abstract The present investigation was carried out at EL- Gemmeiza Agric. Res.St., A.R.C., Egypt during the two growing successive seasons of 2005/ 2006 and 2006 / 2007 to study the performance of six faba bean ( vicia faba,L.) genotypes compared with sakha1 the local variety under three plant densities ( i.e.11,16 and 22 plant / m2 ) The experiments included 21 treatments which were the combinations of three plant densities and seven faba bean new genotypes. Studied characters : 1- Average plant height (cm). 2- Average days to 50% flowering. 3- Average height of first pod. 4 - Average number of branches /plant. 5- Average number of dry pods /plant. 6 - Average number of seeds per pod. 7- Average number of seeds per plant. 8 - Average seed yield (g) / plant. 9 - Average 100-seed weight (g). 10 - Average seed yield (Ardab / fad). 11 - Average seed crude protein percentage. Finally, the results showed that:The research showed that the most promising genotypes which were G6 and G7 under the highest faba bean density at 22 plants/m2 (93333 plant/fad) to record the maximum seed yield. Thus we can be concluded that that, i.e. two promising genotypes G6 and G7 can be take in consideration in breeding program faba bean or evaluated in on farm program |
