Abstract Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) is one of the most common operations worldwide, and its use is expected to increase. Accordingly, any improvements in its efficacy and safety or any decrease in its costs would have significant public health repercussions. The present study was aiming to compare early postoperative outcome after total arterial revascularization with radial artery and IMA to conventional coronary revascularization with long saphenous vein and LIMA. The recent multi-center ten year analysis of coronary procedures concluded that the use of arterial grafting has increased over time, and appears to be safe in terms of in-hospital mortality. This short term study showed that, total arterial revascularization with the internal mammary and radial artery is associated with a low rate of perioperative complications and mortality and can be safely used in bypass graft surgery with excellent clinical results. Long term studies are recommended to investigate and compare the outcome of both methods of revascularization. |
