Abstract Pharmacognostical study of Bougainvillea and Buddleia ~nadagascariensis .A large number of plants belonging to the family Loganiaceae are of economic importance as a source of drugs and poisons e.g. strychnine (from seeds of Strychnos nux-vomica), and curare poison (from the bark of Strychnos toxifera). The taxonomy of family Buddleiacae was a matter of controversy in the past decades. Formerly, it was classified as genus Buddleia in the family loganiaceae. Some other authors classified the family Buddleiaceae and loganiaceae in Scrophulariaceae. Buddleia is now considered as a separate family Many representatives of the family are cultivated domestically as ornamentals notably species of the butterfly bush (Buddleia). Plants of the family Nyctaginaceae has little medicinal and ornamental value ”here some genera are used as diuretic, laxative or expectorant such as Boerhaavia root and Bougainvillea, which is grown in the garden for it’s brightly coloured bracts, has anti-diabetic, anti-viral and anti-hepatitis activities. |
