Abstract

This investigation was carried out on Valencia orange (Citrus sinensis L. Osbeck) trees grafted on three citrus rootstocks ( Volkamer lemon , Rangpur lime and Sour orange ) in a private orchard at El-Bostan, El-Behiera Governorate during two successive seasons 2005 and 2006.
The selected trees were about 6 years old. The aim of this study was to evaluate the growth, yield and fruit quality of Valencia orange budded on these rootstocks to find out the suitable one under the newly reclaimed soils. The changes in leaf mineral content such as N, P, K, Ca, Mg, Fe, Zn and Mn in Valencia orange leaves under these rootstocks also undertaken .
* This study revealed the following results :-
1-Volkamer lemon increased tree height, Canopy circumference, shoot length, number of leaves per shoot and leaf area than the other rootstocks used.
2-Volkamer lemon increased number of fruits per tree, average fruit weight, yield per tree and per feddan than the other rootstocks used.
3-Volkamer lemon decreased number of seeds per fruit then the other rootstocks used.
4-Volkamer lemon increased juice volume with low soluble solids content and total acidity than the other rootstocks used.
