Abstract Stratigraphic subdivision of the Miocene in the Gulf of Suez has been adapted and special emphasis to Nukhul and Rudies Formations is given. The results achieved of these representations could be summarized in the following : 1- The Miocene thickness in the area of study decreases toward the north (minimum thickness 763 ft.) and the south with a tendency to increases toward the center maximum thickness 8881 ft.). 2- Rudies Formation, in general, is thicker maximum 7018 ft. and relatively better developed than Nukhul Formation. The latter has maximum thickness is 617 ft. and of erratic distribution. However, both formations are free from the evaporites. |
