Abstract

Dissertation Abstract Two field experiments were carried out at Rice Research and Training Center (RRTC), Sakha, Kafr ElSheikh <U+2013> Egypt during the growing seasons of 2003 and 2004 to investigate the effect of the following Zn, Fe and Mn treatments : 1 20 kg ZnSO4 fed1nursery soil application. 2 2% ZnSo4 nursery spray. 3 10 Kg ZnSO4 fed1 permanent field soil application . 4 2% ZnSo4 permanent field spray. 5 2% FeSo4 permanent field spray. 6 2% MnSo4 permanent field spray. 7 Compound 1 spray. 8 Compound 2 spray. 9 Zn EDTA . 10 Fe ECTA . 11Mn EDTA . 12Control. The experiment were layed out in a complete block design with four replications. Rice variety (Sakha 102) was sown on 25th May 2003, and 8th may 2004. Plant samples were taken thirty and forty five days after transplanting to estimate plant height (cm), total dry weight (g. hill1) and number of tiller. hill1. At harvest, number of panicles were counted in five hills in each plot then computed to per square meter. Number of grains. Panicle1, filled grain were selected randomly from each plot to estimate percentage, 1000 grain weight (gm). Five square meters were manually harvested then left for three days air drying before mechanical threshing, grain yield were adjusted to have 14% moisture content. Results can be summarized as follows : I Concentrations of P, Zn, Fe and Mn: a Phosphorous. Data obtained from these experiment showed that, there was no significant difference in phosphorus concentration except when 10 Kg ZnSo4 was applied to the soil of the permanent field which gave the lowest value (0.330 %) at 30 DAT. Similar trend was found at 45 DAT. b Zinc: Highest Zn concentration (216 and 176 ppm) at 30 and 45 DAT) was found when plants were sprayed with Zn solution in the permanent field. On the other hand, the lowest concentration of zinc in plant was found when 2% FeSO4 was prayed in the permanent field. c Iron: Data obtained from experiment revealed that, the highest concentration of Fe in plant was found when plants were sprayed with either Fe EDTA followed by (407 and 610 ppm) 2% FeSO4 (409 and 593 ppm) in the permanent field at 30 and 45 DAT, respectively. d Manganese: Significant increase in Mn concentration in rice plants was found when either Mn EDTA or MnSO4 were sprayed in the permanent field relative to the other treatments. On the other hand significant reduction in Mn concentrate was found when the soil of the permanent field recurred 10 Kg ZnSO4 . it could be concluded that spraying 2% ZnSO4 in the permanent the field 15 days after transplanting gave the best result. Compared with the other treatments. Data showed also that, zinc is the only micronutrient elements needed for higher rice yield specially under study condition, but no need for iron and manganese addition. The results indicated also that the two compounds under study are not recommended for rice since they did not show any superiority to the single elements.
