Abstract The main purpose of this study was to design a contentbased English language unit to develop some study skills that are necessary for the Educational Technology students at the faculties of specific education. To achieve this objective, a study skills checklist was constructed, validated, administered and statistically treated and analyzed. The main aim of this checklist was to identify the study skills needed for the target population, to propose a unit for promoting these particular study skills. In the light of data obtained from analyzing checklist, unit objectives were stated. Also, the subjects passed through achievement and proficiency. prepost and followup tests of study skills. Result showed a significant difference between the mean scores of students on the prepost test in favor of the post test . This result indicates that the experimented unit was effective. Besides, the f. ratio for the prepost and followup tests of study skills was significant. The multiple comparisons showed that the significant differences were in favor of the post and follow up tests. It was indicated that the subject retained the target study skills. |
