Abstract

background: In parasitic conditions, there is often limited pathology directily attributed to the organism, most morbidity is related to the immune-inflammatroy response methods: 90 patients with different parasitic infestation were selected and classified according to the type of parasitic infection and compared with 10 healthy control subject. result: 30 patients with compensated schistosomiasis (stage 1 to stage 3) showed progressive increase in the IL-2, but progressive decrease in the IL-4 with progression of the disease from stage 1 to stage 3. while 10 patients with decompensated schistosomiasis showed elevated level of IL-2 more than IL-4. 20 patients with combined infection ( schistosomiasis with chronic HCV&HBV) showed increased level of IL-4 more than IL-2). 10 patients with chronic toxoplamosis showed increased level of IL-2 more than IL-4. 10 patients with chronic filariasis showing prominent IL-4 than IL-2 . 10 patients with hymenolepis nana showing prominent IL-2 than IL-4. conclusion: In parasitic conditions, most morbidity is related to the immune-inflammatroy response
