Abstract Background : Blind Nasal Intubation (BNI) is a simple, safe and effective technique. Many techniques have been used to faciliate this technique. So, we amid to evaluate whether the parital inflation of the cuff in the oropharynx increase the success rate of BNI or not. Methods : This study was carried out on 40 adult patients whom randomly allocated into two groups : Group I : n = 20 (Blind Nasal Intubation was carried out using technique of partial cuff inflation. Group II: n = 20 (Blind Nasal Intubation was carried out without using technique of parital cuff inflation. They continuously monitored with ECG, blood pressure, respiratory rat, nasal inntubation with or without cuff inflation number of trials to intubate the trachea and time of intubation in second. Results : From the results of this study, we observed the partial inflation of the cuff increase the success rate and decrease time of intubation. Conclusion : In patient with normal airway the partial inflation of the cuff in the oropharynx increase the success rate of BNI, as well as decrease the time of intubation. |
