Abstract This diagnostic study was carried out on 50 patients with maxillofacial trauma, from plastic surgery department, Mansoura University Hospital. Patients were subjected to both clinical and radiographic examinations. The radiographic examinations includes, conventional radiography, CT and 3DCT scan examinations. Conventional radiography involved the 6-standard views (Postero¬anterior, Submentovertex, Caldwell, Town’s, Lateral and Water’s views) and panoramic view. CT scan examination was obtained in both axial and coronal planes. 3D reconstruction was also obtained. The provisional diagnosis obtained from the clinical examination was then compared with the radiological and operative finding to reach a final diagnosis. This study comprised 50 patients 38 males and 12 females, there age ranged between 3-years and 6S-years,. were admitted to plastic surgery department, Mansoura Emergency Hospital, Faculty of Medicine, Mansoura University, during the last I.S-years. The etiology of the trauma, degree of consciousness, and associated injuries were obtained and discussed. As regard the fracture site, 26 patients with isolated lower third (mandibular) fractures, 16 patients with isolated middle third fractures and 8 patients with combined fractures, two of them were combined upper and middle third fractures while the other six patients with combined middle and lower third fractures. |
