Abstract Because cholesterol gall stones are known to result from 81tered lipid metabolism, the present research was planned ttudy the relation of plasma lipids and insulin to gall. This may help elucidate the changes in lipid associated with the formation of cholesterol galles. The material of this stUdy comprised fifty three gallne patients, and fifteen normal control Subjects. They admitted to one surgical unit, Mansoura University. On admission, all cases were SUbjected to thorough laboratory, and radiological examination. In fasting plasma insulin ; complete serum 1ipogramttern ; hepatic and gall bladder biles analysis; and gall adder and liver biopsies were performed. The present work showed that there was an overall female ’eponderance, and the overall male to female ratio was 1:3. The incidence of gall stone disease increases with age ~aching its peak in the age (40-49) group. Although there S female preponderance in younger age groups, yet in old e ( > 60 years), the male to female. ratio was reversed. |
