Abstract

SCG F is an early-acting, and multilineage hematopoietin, that plays an important role in normal and malignant hematopoiesis, with its receptor, the c¬kit protein (Ikeda, 1991). Our study included 38 children with acute leukemia and lymphoma. The acute leukemia group included 25 children with ALL (15 cases) and ANLL (10 cases). The lymphoma group included 13 children with HD (6 cases), and NHL (7 cases). The control group included 10 normal children of matched age and sex. Senun SCGF assay was done in all subjects of the study, using the ELIZA technique. The aim of our study was: I-Estimation of senun SCGF levels in childhood acute leukemia and lymphoma. 2-Correlation of serum SCGF levels with the clinical and hematological parameters of malignancy, to reveal any diagnostic significance. Statistical analysis for serum SCGF levels, 111 the studied groups, showed: Serum SCGF levels are decreased in both leukemia and lymphoma groups, with statistically significant difference detected between the control and leukemia groups (P= 0.0342), that may be attributed to the higher rate of SCGF- receptor expression by leukemia blasts (Broudy, 1992). •Serum SCGF levels are decreased in both ALL and AML groups.
