Abstract Preinduction cervical assessment by TVS is new method which is more objective and better accepted by patients compared to conventional Bishop digital examination. In our study 3 variables of BS (total BSI digital cervical di latation and position of the cervix) and 3 TVS variables (internal os diameterl posterior cervical angle and anterior lower segment thickness) correlated with induction outcome. The statistical analysis used in this study assigned predictive power for these variables in this descending order of importance I total BS I cervical di latation BS I posterior cervical angle TVS and lower segment thickness TVS. Correlation was proved between predictive BS and TVS variables. Vaginal delivery is predicted by this method of combined BS and TVS employing discriminant function coefficient for variables at 100%1 while abdominal delivery has a lower rate. |
