Abstract The present study is conducted, to evaluate the functional state of thyroid gland, the frequency and the role of thyroid disorders in male sterility together with assessment of the value of thyroid hormone threpay in infertile males. Moreover, evaluation of reliability of urinary 17-Oxosteroids (OS) and 17-Oxogenic corticos-teroids (17-OGS) estimations in male infertility, and correlation between the urinary corticosteroids and the different types of semen pictures was tried. The effect of various types of aadrogens therapy, was studied. A series of 106 infertile males and 25 normal fertil< healthy controls was investigated. Efinety cases had idio-pathic infertility and 16 cases had endocrinopathies which included 3 cases of hypothyroidism, one with thyrotoxi¬cosis, two with Addisonfs disease, one with Gushing1s syndrome, one with the AGS? two with Klinefelter1s syn¬drome and 6 oases with aunuchoidisnu Semen analysis was done at least twice for every case before being included in this study and monthly thereafter until the end of the follow up period, using the criteria of Eliasson (1973). |
