Abstract
The present study was planned to study one sector of the local immune system in the lung, total and differential cell count and class 11 MHC antigen expression on the a1ve01ar macr0p hag e sand1YmPh0cytes. in BAL0fur a emic patients. The material of the present study comprised thirty one cases which were categorized into a. Control group: included seven healthy volunteers. b. Dialysed group: included fifteen uraemic patients. c. Non dialysed group: included nine uraemic patients. All cases had been subjected to * Thorough history taking and clinical examination * Investigations included serum creatinine, blood urea, creatinine clearance, serum albumin, serum bilirubin, serum sodium, serum potassium, fasting and 2 hours post prandial blood glucose, complete blood picture, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, electrocardiography, chest X-ray posteroanterior view ,finally bronchoalveolar lavage and total and differential cell count in BAL using Leishman’s stain and Giemsa1s stain, staining with monoclonal antibody for class II MHC antigen and . fluorescine then the slides were examined under i m mu no flu 0 res c e n t mic r 0 s cop e and de tee t.; 0 n 0 f per c e n tag e of class 11 MHC antigen expression on alveolar macrophages and lymphocytes
