Abstract This study was carried out on thirty patients of either sex undergoing soft tissue and orthopedic surgical peration on the upper limbs and respiratory pre-operatively An intravenous drip was set on the sound limb togeth-er with sphegmomanometer cuff to measure the blood sure A plastic cannula was inserted into the mostripheral vein available done after applying an quet was applied and its cuff was inflated to a100 mmHg above the initial-systolic pressure bandage was then removed The patients were classified into three groups,each group consisting of ten patients. To patients of the first group, xylocaine (O 5%) was injected in a dose of 3 mg/kg body weight, to ients of the second group, bupi- vacaine (0.25%) in a dose of 15 mg/kg body weight injected and to the patients of the third group, a ture of xylocaine (0.5%) in a dose of 1.5 mg/kg weight and bupivacaine (0.25) in body weight were injected. After the onset of sensory loss, a second tourniquet was applied distal to the’original one and inflated to the same pressure as the first tourniquet, then the first. |
